This intensive week-long workshop is for teen and adult dancers who have at least 3 years of ballet training. This workshop is a great way to get back into dancing shape before regular Fall classes start up again!
Conditioning for Dancers: This class will include a warm-up that is focused on mobilising and activating all of the muscles dancers will be using in Ballet Technique. Exercises will be performed both standing and on the floor using a mat.
Ballet Technique: Dancers will develop technical, musical and performance skills in a traditional ballet class setting that includes Barre Work, Centre Practice, Pirouettes, Adagio and Allegro.
Character Dance: A balletic representation of traditional folk dance, character dance uses movements and music that have been adapted for the stage. Famous ballets that showcase charater dance include Don Quixote, Paquita and Swan Lake.
Pointe Preparation: This class is designed to help dancers get strong enough for pointe work, and is beneficial for everyone – even if you are not going to go onto pointe for a little while. Simple exercises to improve foot control and strength will be covered.
Repertoire: Dancers will learn group and/or sole dance(s) inspired by famous ballets.
